Company Intro
Headquartered in Western Australia, CPC Engineering provides energy, mining and engineering infrastructure services across the globe. Companies count on CPC for engineering design, construction and maintenance across the entire minerals processing value chain.
Quote
“Solver has met, and in many areas, exceeded expectations. The implementation was quick and efficient, meeting our very tight deadline. The budgeting and forecasting process is fast and more structured than we had. Reforecasting now only takes a day, when it used to take a week – or more.” – Karen Haynes, Chief Financial Officer, CPC Engineering
The Challenge
With multiple divisions managing different aspects of mineral processing needs, the budgeting and forecasting process was inefficient and time-consuming. Each division developed their own Excelbased budget, which made consolidation difficult, especially when users would make unauthorized changes to budgeting templates.
With only Excel spreadsheets and simple reporting tools, CPC was limited to annual budgeting. The finance and executive teams wanted to move to quarterly reporting, but the project was too timeconsuming to be considered feasible. CPC needed a more robust, cloud-based solution that streamlined the process and reduced the risk of human error.
The Solution
Having outgrown Excel, CPC turned to their existing partner, Access Analytic, for help. The CPC team liked the simplicity and structure of Solver and felt confident in the strength of Access Analytic’s support and consulting services. Having a cloud-based system eliminated the need for constant file transfers and solved local storage issues.
What have been the biggest benefits of the project?
The budgeting and forecasting process is now much faster and more structured. Managers find it easier to input data without worrying about formatting or breaking formulas. Everyone loves having the ability to refresh reports instantly. Balance sheets and cash flow reports are available in a more streamlined manner. The ability to reforecast within a day, as opposed to a week or more, has also been a significant improvement.
How did you use Solver to fit your unique needs?
Currently, Solver pulls data from Dynamics 365 BC, and soon it will pull in PayGlobal payroll data as well. Access Analytic structured Solver’s data warehouse and reports to align with our multiple business entities, ensuring historical financial data from various sources could be consolidated. The team also designed input sheets to streamline manager submissions.
How to you plan to use Solver for Corporate Performance Management?
CPC sees the potential for expansion into areas like fleet maintenance, ESG, health and safety reporting and other operational areas. More immediately, CPC plans to improve workflow automation, implement rolling 12-month forecasting, and integrate payroll data
The Results
Access Analytic’s implementation of Solver gave CPC Engineering the reporting capabilities they needed with minimal disruption to daily business activities. The executive and financial teams now have the timely consolidated insight they need across the enterprise. Plus, they have a reporting tool that can serve their business expansion to meet future business goals.
